A great thing to do right now is to make a resolution to try a new activity. That could be a new fitness class, a new route for your regular run, or even a new workout video online. It’s a great way to shake of that post-NY fug and get the endorphins pumping.
You may not fancy going full Veganuary (although if you do that’s great) but after a season that’s stuffed with overeating, now is the perfect time to pile more vegetables on your plate. Eating less meat is not only good for the planet, it’s also great for your gut and can give you the energy to tackle those resolutions that you have been putting off. Get chopping, try out a few new recipes, and fill your freezer with big batches of veggie chilli and stew.

Getting enough sunlight can be a real problem at this time of year – especially if you spend most of the daylight hours inside at work. Lack of vitamin D can cause a range of problems from extreme tiredness to feelings of low mood, so it’s important to get out and about when you can. That might be committing to exploring a new part of the city every day on your lunch break or hitting a countryside trail over the weekend.
Catch up on Sleep
It can be tough to catch up on the ZZZs we need with party season in full swing, so January is the perfect time for some targeted R&R. Tidy up your sleep schedule by removing screens from the bedroom and practicing some gentle exercise or mindful meditation before you get your shut-eye. You’ll be surprised how energised you feel after improving your sleep quality for just a few days.
